What Customers Say About Factory-Reconditioned DEWALT D28402R 4-1/2-Inch Small Angle Grinder:

Just like a new one but with a lower price tag. This is my second one, both work, but are set up with different disc attachments to speed up work productivity.

Removing the guard allows for greater use of the grinding and cut off discs at the peril of flying debris/sparks and the chance that the disc will fly apart as you wear it down. My primary use for this grinder is cutting of all my steel welding projects. I chose to go `up' with this higher amp model since cutting through steel is more aggressive on the motor and takes more time than the grinding that I do with the other 7amp version. I got this one simply to save on time from switching out my grinding discs to cut off wheels.

Only time will tell how the grinder holds up but I don't foresee the kind of use I put it to killing it anytime soon. The guard is fully adjustable and the side handle can of course be swapped to the other side. Both of the grinders have the quick-change system but it is still a bother to do that in the middle of a job.I mainly use this one for cutting through steel and some `artistic' grinding with the cut off wheel. This is the second angle grinder I purchased, the first one is the 7amp model from Dewalt. My work is generally light and typically the grinders only run for a few minutes at a time with about a half dozen or so runs in an hour.

This hasn't happened to me with any of the grinding or cut off discs I've gone through but I stay safe with safety glasses as well as a full-face shield.

it grinds well but when i use the cutoff wheels on it tends to bog down on 18 gauge steel. amazon said they would process the refund and it would be back to the card in the next few days. amazon had it shipped out from some company 3rd party company in illinois, shipping was decent, it was UPS which is bad in the first place but it only took about 7 days to get here. had to drive out of my way to go to a UPS store to send it back, took another 7 days to get back to the 3rd party company. i paid 72 for the grinder and like 8 for shipping and waited 7 days to get it, i went down to home depot and paid 73 for it and picked it up that day. dont waste your time with amazon. when i opened the box it was a completely different grinder. i called amazon and they emailed me return packaging labels and said they would refund it.

i waited a week and there was no refund, so i called amazon and the guy i spoke with said there was no refund request in for it and he would do it there. as for the grinder it isnt too bad, have only used it a few times. i ordered this because it was a 10 amp and the price was lower then others i was looking at. it was a small 7 amp grinder, all the packing information and the box it was shipped in said d28402 but when i looked on the grinder there was a different part number altogether there. so waited a few more days and it finally showed up.

Has plenty of power and is light weight. The price was right and the grinder performed great. Don't think the battery one's could have done the job I had to do.

Even with this we preffer this grinder. On a saftey note don't leave them on the floor. We tried $20-$40 and $100 to $150 grinders and found these grinders stand up great, are easy to handle, easy to take apart, you can get parts for them, and the parts are inexpensive. You may end up turning the grinder on by stepping on the switch. We run all our grinder with 5" grinding and sanding wheels.

This cannot happen with griders that have slide switches. So far we have 8 of them in our shop. It was a tough go for the older DW402 which would last for 2-4 years of daily use. These grinders are replacing the older DW402. The new D28402 has even more power and the grip/switch fits better into your hand.

The tendancy is to put them down with the wheel up.
